3PL Web Integration for Supply Chain

Third party logistics company, Logistics Plus engages Distributed Network Software to create online ‘rate’ and ‘schedule’ transportation shipments using up-to-the-minute rates and schedules.
Company Background
Logistics Plus is a global supply chain management company that specializes in complete third-party logistics services. Logistics Plus manages over $250 million in domestic and international freight for small, medium, and large companies.
Today, Logistics Plus employs over 100 supply-chain professionals worldwide with offices in nine countries, offering a full range of logistic services tailored to meet their customer’s transportation and warehousing needs.

Situation
Many emerging businesses realize that their accounting system must scale to the number and complexity of transactions within their business.
Logistics Plus is a service-oriented company that quickly grew from $5 million to over $25 million in annual revenue using an off-the-shelf accounting package.
Many transactions required manual entry without a scalable accounting system which resulted in an increased staff and costs required to keep up with the number of transactions. In addition, many transactions came from separate systems which required human intervention to update the accounting and reporting systems.

Solution
Looking at Logistics Plus objectively, Distributed Network Software (DNS) conducted an operations and accounting business analysis partially funded by IT Kickstart, an economic assistance program of www.ebizitpa.org.
The result of the analysis was a roadmap of current practices along with a recommendation of best practices and an ROI of accounting systems for a same sized company in the third-party logistics industry. The analysis concluded that Logistics Plus would benefit from scalable accounting and operations software in order to gain efficiencies and remain competitive in the third-party logistics industry.
DNS deployed Sage ACCPAC accounting software at Logistics Plus then followed up with migrating data from the previous system along with training and maintenance plans for Logistics Plus employees. Concurrently, DNS created secure web software which allowed customers to ‘rate’ and ‘schedule’ shipments in real-time using up-to-the-minute carrier rates and schedules.
As a Sage Developer, DNS integrated eshipplus.com transactions into Sage ACCPAC automatically which eliminated manual transaction entries into Logistics Plus accounting software. DNS used Microsoft SQL Server and Visual Studio.NET technologies along with Sage ACCPAC programming interface to create the www.eshipplus.com solution.

Benefits of Integrated Software
Sage ACCPAC accounting software adjusts to business needs instead of starting over with new software. Logistics Plus has gained a competitive edge by scaling their enterprise software to their business needs.
The connection between their secure web software and their accounting software (Sage ACCPAC) reduces costs while increasing revenue. They are now able to instantly respond to customers and carriers who drive third-party logistics companies.
The management team at Logistics Plus now has the tools to make timely business decisions and forge new partner relationships that grow their business in an ever-changing transportation market – without worrying about technology changes.

“eShipPlus.com allows our customers to rate, create and schedule shipments from a single website, lowering our cost and adding value for our customers.”
